In this exciting sixty-first episode of the Gap-Minders, we chatted with the inspiring Todd Tibbits, the President & Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of San Diego County!
Listen to “Episode 61 | Todd Tibbits, President & Chief Executive Officer, YMCA of San Diego County” on Spreaker. In yet another stellar episode, Nancy and Jose are joined in the studio by Todd Tibbits, the President and CEO of the YMCA of San Diego County. With 31 years of service to the YMCA, Todd became the CEO in 2021, joining what he referred to as the “jackpot” of YMCAs. We learn a great deal from Todd, from the formation of the YMCA in 1844 in London, England, to the evolution of the YMCA here in San Diego.
In Todd’s typically atypical day as the CEO, he gets to oversee a YMCA system which provides everything from “gym and swim” community centers and summer camps to youth and family services. But what might surprise many about the YMCA is their role in youth homelessness, evidenced by the Lincoln Apartments in Escondido, food distribution, tutoring, and many other social services. How does it all tie together? Todd shares that the YMCA is about well being for all, equitable opportunities, and positive youth development.
An excellent interview from a passionate gap minder. Thank you, Ed, for your contributions in San Diego, and for joining us on The Gap Minders.
