Welcome to the forty-third episode of The Gap Minders! Today, we have the incredible opportunity to talk to Neville Billimoria, Senior Vice President of Membership & Community Relations, Mission Federal Credit Union
Listen to “Episode 43 | Neville Billimoria. Senior Vice President of Membership & Community Relations, Mission Federal Credit Union” on Spreaker. In this excellent episode, Nancy and Jose are joined in studio by Neville Billimoria, the Senior Vice President of Membership & Community Relations at Mission Federal Credit Union. Since moving to the United States from India at the age of 14, Neville has had to juggle his eastern and western identities. This idea that different parts of someones lived experience contribute to their whole identity is something that Neville has taken and applied to his professional life. Working at Mission Fed, he is known for having a balance between the financial and business and spiritual side of his life.
As a not for profit organization Mission Federal Credit Union aims to meet the financial needs of the consumers whether they be the owners or businesses. Part of their work focuses on financial literacy and education to help their consumers access and achieve their version of the “American Dream.” While credit unions focus on both financial performance and social purpose, Neville primarily focuses on community engagement strategies to help underestimated people. As a gap minder, Neville aims not to “mind the gap” but rather, “mine the gap” by recognizing opportunities and filling those needs to uplift everyone.
An excellent episode on community and improvement with Neville Billimoria. Here are some other takeaways from the interview:
– The balance between different identities (whether it be eastern and western or business and wellness)
– Goals of the Mission Federal Credit Union as a not for profit organization and how they aim to fulfill social purpose through community relations
– Changes of perspective due to the pandemic especially in relation to physical and mental wellness
– The value of living an authentic life
– The answers to the Rapid Fire questions!
A thought provoking interview from an excellent gap minder who is lifting others in the community every single day. Thank you, Neville, for your contributions in San Diego, and for joining us on The Gap Minders.
